Equipped For Any Trouble

The Lord prompted me to share a revelation that He gave me after meditating on 2 Corinthians 1:3-4. It reads, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”
‭‭
How beautiful is it that not only does the Lord comfort us in ALL our tribulation but His comfort equips, empowers and enables us to comfort those who are in ANY trouble.

The Spirit of the LORD is saying, “I’m using you, go forth!”

How many times have you retracted or pulled back from sharing your testimony, or sharing the Word of God to encourage someone because you “feel” that you’re unqualified or unable to comfort them because you haven’t experienced their particular challenge, circumstance or burden? How many times have we heard church folk proclaim unless we endured their situation, then we aren’t qualified to speak on it. However, according to the Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 1:4 that notion is not biblically accurate. According to the Bible we are comforted in all our tribulation that we may comfort those in ANY TROUBLE.

Our experience is not the only nor most powerful qualifer. The Holy Spirit is. He qualifies, equips and prepares us for the work we are predestined to do. I’ve personally witness the power of the Holy Spirit in this way in my own life. In leading a community Grief Support group, the Lord used me to comfort many people as well as lead many people back to Christ. Some of the most powerful interactions the Holy Spirit cultivated and brought comfort to was widows. I have never been married, and therefore have never lost a spouse. However, people frequently spoke about how much God used me to comfort them and others. They would use words like peace, strength, hope… and I would witness people be radically transformed through the working of the Holy Spirit… how can I be empowered or equipped to comfort someone who lost a spouse of 20, 30, 50 years and I have never even been married? Jesus! He can do all things through us!

The next time the Lord is prompting you to bring comfort to someone, cast down your fears, empty yourself and let the Holy Spirit use you to bring comfort to the broken hearted.

God bless you, God keep you.

One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism

The LORD is truly a rewarder to those who seek Him diligently.

I wasn’t raised by my biological father. For years, I had so much hidden sadness in my heart… As an early adult, I tried to have a relationship with him but it never worked out and I just became more hurt. I made a lot of bad decisions as result of my pain. But, I never considered his pain, the torment my father may be feeling as result of his bad choices that I knew he regretted. A few years ago I started praying that the Holy Spirit purge me from bitterness, anger, insecurities… all the negative emotions I had as result of feeling abandoned by my biological father. And, I decided to start praying that God would heal, restore and transform my father. I also discern that my father lived in a state of condemnation. I wanted my father to know Jesus had forgiven him as I knew my father was truly sorry and repented often… so I choose to lot go of everything negative I had against him and began to serve him as the Lord lead me. Showing him first, that I love him and I forgave him. Additionally, I would cry out to the Lord often asking the Holy Spirit to draw my father and I prayed he would receive the Master’s grace. And on Sunday, May 19, 2019 my father expressed outwardly his inner conviction, that Jesus Christ who died on the cross and rose from the grave 3 days later is his Savior!!! That he has choosen to follow the Everlasting God! In Jesus my father is a new creature! Old things have passed away!

Thank You Jesus!!!

As a Minister I have had the privilege to baptize many, truly, it is difficult to find words to express my humble gratitude! I’m not worthy!!!

To baptize my father… to watch him be reborn into the likeness of God… my soul rejoices!!

I didn’t tell my father I have been praying for him for years. I didn’t ask him if he wanted to get baptized. He just called me a few weeks ago prior and cried out that he wanted to get baptized to be closer to JESUS! It was completely his decision!

Thank You Lord!!!

For the Bible says “no one can come to the Father unless He draws him”. O’ Jesus, thank you for drawing my father! Don’t let go O’ God!

To clarify:

BAPTISM ALONE DOES NOT SAVES US
We must be baptized, if it is possible. Baptism is the washing away of sins. Baptism is a outward expression of a inward conviction. Baptism is symbolic of being buried into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.
It is our confession and our belief which brings about eternal salvation, not solely baptism. For the Bible declares, “If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9).
“For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved” (Romans 10:10).

The Heavenly Hope

PHILIPPIANS 4:8

In Hebrews 11 the writer speaks of The Heavenly Hope. The writer describe how Abel, Noah, Abraham and Sarah died in faith because they kept their mind stayed on the promises of God. They regarded their country in Heaven, their main concern (not without human error) was obeying God. Not for what they could see, but for what they could not see; their heavenly home – considering themselves as strangers and pilgrims on earth.

My prayer today is that we too keep our eyes, heart and mind fixed on the LORD! The Author and Finisher of our faith. What is extraordinary is that they didn’t have a “Bible” to draw from. They drew from testimonies of faith and their own faith through a personal relationship with God. May we do likewise.

“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – If anything is excellent or praiseworthy – Think about such things” (Philippians 4:8).

Dear Heaven Father, In the name of Jesus. Allow us to have the faith of the Old Testament Patriarchs and the audacity and resilience of the New Testament Apostles! This we believe You can do. In Jesus name we pray.

I almost completely failed a (spiritual) TEST!

F5F06719-03A4-4C90-9351-7B4897AFB9C5.jpeg

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things” (Philippians‬ ‭4:6-8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬).

Last Thursday I shared Philippians 4:6-8 with 20+ of my co-workers, followed by prayer for patience and wisdom during our monthly meeting. Then, this past Wednesday, I was given heartbreaking news and completely forgot this scripture. For 15 hours straight I was completely heartbroken and could not stop thinking about this new level of spiritual warfare, and was tested to hold on to my faith regarding the purpose and word that God has pronounced over my life. INITIALLY, I failed! What initial caught me of guard is that God has been warning me regarding this occurrence for a couple of weeks but I was completely blinded sided with the way it was presented. Though Jesus gave me insight, I didn’t consider that I wasn’t going to have a decision in a matter that greatly affects my day to day activities, possibly pulling me away from something I found so much joy and honor in. The news was devastating! I was davasted! For a moment, my emotions got the best of me. I could not stop (me failing the test) crying…
The next day one of my precious sister’s in the Lord began speaking life over me. I wasn`t (and still not) in total agreement with an aspect of her perspective on why such news shouldn’t bother me. However, one point she reminded me of which I know to be true is: all thing’s work out for the good of them that love the LORD and called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28).  Shortly after mediating on this and various other scriptures, Jesus presented me with the opportunity to share His Word and serve communion in the most unexpected environment, and to a person who told me the previous week they were going to kill themselves. Through the grace and love of God, I was able to present this person the gospel of Jesus Christ freely (the previous week I was limited). What happened next was so powerful. This person re-dedicated their life to Christ and was healed from the spirit of suicide!! Hallelujah Jesus! Hallelujah God!!!! This person then began to repent on their own to God for ever desiring to commit suicide!
I am reminded of three things:
1). Spiritual seeds are important to plant. This particular spiritual sister knows my love and commitment to Jesus, knows my call in ministry, and knows the authority I carry in Christ. Yet she did not wait for me to get over it or come to myself, but planted spiritual seeds of hope and faith in me immediately. Additionally, a brother in Christ called and prayed for me Wednesday evening. How often do we overlook spiritual leaders or Christians in general when we can obviously see they are in a storm or hurting? Eventually I would have certainly gotten over it because the depth of my soul trust Jesus and I’m sure they both know this, but I thank God for these two people who spoke life into me before too much damage or regret could be done. What if they hadn’t poured into me? I may have been too distracted or emotionally drained to pour into someone else, thus blocking the Lord from allowing me to be used to lead someone to healing and re-dedication to Christ!
2). Run to your bible, run to the Word of God, run to the Master’s feet!!! I basically ruined an entire evening and caused myself unnecessary stress by delaying my quiet time with Jesus. The devil would say, “it was only a day.” But I hear the Spirit of the Lord saying, “you almost missed an appointment!” I almost missed an opportunity to share the grace and love of God and guide someone to healing! That would have been awful! Additionally, complete peace only came upon me when “I” began to mediate on God`s Holy Word!
3). As Christians, whatever we compel others to do, we will be tested in! And, sometimes, it comes quickly. Prepare!
O LORD, forgive me! Against You and only you have I sinned.

What is love?

In John 13:34-35, Jesus said, “A new commandment I give you: that you love one another. As I have loved you, so also you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another.”

There are a few extraordinarily powerful proclamations that God makes in the above scripture. He uses the word “new.” In this particular content, “new” is not used as replacement to any of the commandments but a fulfillment of them. First, it means that all commandments fall underneath the banner of this (new) ideology. Secondly, in this “new” commandment, Jesus’ powerful words exhort us to love one another as He has loved us. Notice that Jesus doesn’t instruct us to love one another as we think they ought to be loved, but He commands that we love one another the way He loved us. God loved us in our brokenness, therefore, we are commissioned to love others in their brokenness. God loved us when we offended Him, therefore, we are commissioned to love those who offended  us…

The last and arguably the most critical point that Jesus powerfully proclaims in John 13:34-35 is that all men will know that we are disciples of Christ if we love one another. Men do not know that we are disciples because we are nice. Men do not know that we are disciples if we are friendly. Men do not know that we are disciples if we go to church, hang crosses on our wall, or if we can quote bible scriptures. What reveals that we are disciplined believers of Jesus Christ is if we have love for one another.

What is love? 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 says, “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth.  Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.  Love never ends…

The Amplified translation defines love this way:

“Love endures with patience and serenity, love is kind and thoughtful, and is not jealous or envious; love does not brag and is not proud or arrogant.  It is not rude; it is not self-seeking, it is not provoked [nor overly sensitive and easily angered]; it does not take into account a wrong endured.  It does not rejoice at injustice, but rejoices with the truth [when right and truth prevail].  Love bears all things [regardless of what comes], believes all things [looking for the best in each one], hopes all things [remaining steadfast during difficult times], endures all things [without weakening].  Love never fails [it never fades nor ends]” (1 Corinthians 13:4-8).

May we, as disciples of Christ, be mindful of how we treat one another in the name of love.
